Ahead of the Curve 1 & 2 @ 16" W x 60" H x 2" D Acrylic, oil & 23K gold leaf on archival board
The understory of these pieces are in the ancient language of Sanskrit and each one is a blessing. The 23K gold shapes are inspired by the Chofa (sky tassel), the Thai architectural ornament that adorns the roof tops of temples and palaces in most SE Asian countries. The chofa represents the mythical half bird, half man who is the vehicle of the Hindu God Vishnu.
I learned my first Sanskrit years ago on my first visit to Bali, over dinner - the best way to begin anything.
